 a single fault ruins it April 20, 2010

Overall the unit is very good. Easy to use and setup,but it doesn't have a light in its screen. This makes it impossible to read the display in the dark, when I mostly do my running. This makes it pretty annoying and only useful if you are running when the sun is up. It is practically useless as a watch unlike my old timex.

I've used all sorts of watches and HR monitors in the past, most seem overly complicated, but this product is really simple to set up and to use. It's just right for a regular fitness programme. Great value

I bought this not just as a training tool but because it looks good as a watch.
It's very simple to set up and use. The chest strap is comfortable to wear even though it's the hard plastic type and it linked in to the CV gym equipment without any problems. I don't need an all singing all dancing gadget, just something that shows me my heart rate and calories burned during CV work and weight sessions, which the polar F4 does.
It's comfortable to wear on the wrist and the display is very easy to read and simple.
All in all I very much recommend it.

I am very disappointed with this product. It is inconsistent and measures calories inaccurately and intermittently. I do not like the kcal measure at all. It is also intermittent in measuring heart rate and calories and connects and disconnects constantly. A nuisance. I previously had a more expensive polar HR monitor and this was fantastic. As someone who regularly exercises, I regret not paying that bit more for a more sophisticated and reliable polar - but having had a good one I expected that all polar products would be of a high standard. Take my advice and don't bother with this one! It does the basics badly. Can I have my money back, please!! Polar F4M Heart Rate Monitor

happy with the monitor which does what it says; but note that this model cant upload to the pc altho' the guidance is a little coy on this; also i bumped it once or twice in classes and accidentally turned it off in the midst of a session!
